17th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade and March
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Garland, Texas branch will host its 17th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parade and march on Saturday, January 14, 2006, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

2006 Theme/Grand Marshals
The 2006 theme is "Honoring Our Garland NAACP Charter Members on MLK Day." The grand marshals for the 17th annual parade and march will be: Ms. Goldie Locke, first branch president, Mr. Chester Johnson and Ms. Carol Montgomery, past officers and Executive Committee members of the NAACP Garland branch.
The celebration continues with an MLK commemorative program in the Granville Arts Center's main auditorium immediately following the parade and march. The MLK Community-wide Youth Choir, St. Luke AME Puppet Ministry and Ida Handley Elementary Choir will perform. The event is open to the public. Admission is free.
MLK Youth Extravaganza - January 15, 2006 - Granville Arts Center Main Auditorium.
Youth groups from area churches will showcase their spiritual talents in praise dance, step routines and military-style drills on Sunday afternoon, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Admission is free to the public.
